Water on the Roof

This Medium Pipe Chase Housing in the photo below solved a unique problem.  How do you get a water line to the roof without   x-raying the concrete and coring?   This is a post tension roof with conduits in the concrete.   The small pipe coming off this Pipe Chase Housing once penetrated to roof on its own.  We found this pipe from below and discovered there was enough room to go  beside it.  So we used the Pipe Chase Housing to eliminate the x-ray and core.  The savings  paid for the Pipe Chase Housing and we have a successful and great looking job.

This is a before photo of a re-roofing project.  The black pipes are chilled water lines from a small chiller on the roof.  Notice the chilled water line going down between the supply and return air duct work.  There is no way anyone could have gotten in there to seal that penetration.  From inside we could see daylight up through the hole.  This is an upsidedown roof.  over the years all the cracks filled in with bird futilizer and the weeds started to grow.   It was an old roof and ready to be replaced.
This is the after photo.  The Contractor wanted us to clean it all up.  So we used the Medium Pipe Chase Housing to consolidate the piping and organize it.  What you can’t see is the rearranging of the piping inside to housing.  This was done to eliminate pipes crossing over pipes on the roof.  We also hooked up the water so they could clean the cottonwood out of the equipment coils on the roof.  The Electrician surprised me by running liquid tight from the roof down to a junction box in the ceiling.  That was a very fast and easy way to do it.
